Awesome Fried Chicken

Sorry for the delay, I have been so busy-not necessarily trying new things BUT busy anyhow.
I am just going to post one of the new things I have done since my last post. I made amazing fried chicken, it was "the best in all the 20 years of our marriage" as quoted by my husband. That was quite a compliment I thought! If anyone would like the recipe just ask and I will post it. I will be better at posting this week--my 11 year old son even asked me what my new thing was for the day--it is getting contagious around here!

Number 5--Volcano

My son and I bought a volcano kit at the local Border's bookstore--which gives educators discounts by the way. The kit has a light plastic frame, tube, cement mixing powder, baking soda and bottle. We mixed the cement and poured it over the frame. My son wasn't too thrilled about the experiment until he remembered that he had small army guys that he could place along the incline. So now, we have army men climbing and shooting around the volcano. We have fences and trees around as well--once his imagination got going he had a lot of fun! Tomorrow we are going to expode the volcano---I am sure the army men are going to pay the price for our fun! Just a side note--isn't it amazing where army men end up? I have found them in my washer and dryer, they have been found hiding behind picture frames, under my bed, in the bathrooms. Army men are certainly great travelers--talk soon, Lisa

Number 4--Bubble painting

Well I learned one thing today, I need new paint. I homeschool our youngest son and this was our art project for the day. We had some left over bubble wrap that I kept (who doesn't love bubble wrap) and we put watercolor paint over it. I used a rolling pin and flipped the wrap over onto a white piece of paper and rolled the paint onto the sheet. Well, when your paints are older or watery they don't spread well ontothe bubble wrap and don't transfer well. Learned lesson from todays project, be prepared and buy new paints next week.
I also went and saw Bride Wars tonight with a friend and it was really funny, don't let the critics say it wasn't very good because I really enjoyed it. And if you look at my profile I really like guy movies so this was a stretch for me and I really liked it.
Enjoy your night and I dare you to try something new tomorrow. Lisa

Number 3--sledding

Okay, most of you may have already done this as a kid, but I was really sick as a kid and didn't do much outside during winter. Sledding, snowman making, skiing-any of that stuff just is really pretty foreign to me. So sledding with my son was a definite new for me. I went down the hill at top speeds four times---had a blast and am so glad I did it. And I truly did it because I had to think of something for today. I woke up thinking about what I could do new today so this must be working for me atleast. Before I would have sat in the truck and waited for my son to be done with his buddies so Yes I TRIED SOMETHING NEW TODAY!!! Have a great day everyone and I hope you are all feeling challenged to try something new. Lisa

Numbers 1 and 2!!!

I can't believe I woke up thinking about trying something new today, it helps that I had something planned the night before but I see I am going to be on my toes to have something new everyday. As a note, the picture on my blog is of our dog Saul, a little shitzu that is amazing, I highly recommend this bread--no shedding, easy going, loves to play or sit still, has one black eye and one blue eye, what isn't there to love?

Number 1-Well, really yesterday was the first day of something new because I blogged for the first time ever. I am not computer savvy but it was sooooooooooo easy!!! If any of you have thought of creating a blog but have worried it was difficult please take the challenge and try it--I honestly get confused on copy and paste but got this down and so can you too!

Number 2- My new thing for today was to make shortbread cookies. My in-laws just found out they were Scottish-all this time prior thinking they were English. This was my reasoning in trying a Scottish recipe. I think I either don't like shortbread cookies or I had a poor recipe. If any of you have a great recipe please send it over, I am willing to try it one more time. Fortunately there are so many recipes and foods that I love, that I really don't need another new favorite. In light of having a poor recipe I thought I would share two old time favorite recipes from today that I did make and they were great--perhaps you all can try one of these as your new something today! Hope you enjoy-

Tomorrow is the first day!

I have to think there are a lot of people out in the internet world that are just looking for something new. Maybe a new recipe, maybe a new craft idea, maybe a new activity-- just something, anything new to have in our lives. My name is Lisa, a wife and mother of three kids. I am always on the lookout for something new to do with my kids, my husband, myself. I look at a billion different websites and can't keep it all organized---------so, my idea is to post daily something new that I have done in my life, that my family may have done--something that real people can do with a real life included. Tomorrow I am planning on baking something new--the reason for it is because my husband's family just found out they are Scottish and I am going to make a Scottish recipe---I will post it tomorrow----I hope you all may take the challenge with me and begin trying new things daily. Who knows, we may all find a new love for something, a new desire to grow. Hope to hear from you all soon! Lisa
